How Often Should I Have My Pool Cleaned?

Summer is here and it’s time to whip your pool into tip-top shape. Do you know how often it should be cleaned? We encourage cleaning your pool as often as possible, but here are a few ways to tell when your pool is due for a cleaning:

Pool Chemicals

Your pool’s chemistry is what keeps the water chlorinated and clean, so it should be checked a minimum of two times each week. This includes your pool’s pH balance and chlorine levels. The pH balance should be kept between 7.2 and 7.8. The lower you keep the pH balance, the less you’ll have to add chlorine to your pool. Keeping these chemicals in balance allows for your pool to stay clean and user-friendly throughout the summer.

Pool Filter

The pool filter must be cleaned regularly in order to keep the water clean and clear. When the pool filter is ready to be cleaned, you’ll see signs such as opaque water clarity, obstructed drainage, dirt and debris. You should be able to clearly see the bottom of your pool. Maintaining a fresh filter ensures clean water for you and your family all summer long.

Skimmer Basket

Your pool’s skimmer basket is in place to catch any large debris or critters at the top of your pool before the debris gets too saturated and sinks to the bottom. The skimmer needs to be cleaned weekly due to the collection of debris and contaminants piling up each day. Once the skimmer is cleaned, it can carry on with its skimming duties and keep your pool functioning properly and dirt and debris-free.

Tile and Water Line

Make an effort to wipe down your pool tiles and scrub debris away weekly to keep your pool shining bright. The residue from the water line will leave an unkept line of scum on your beautiful pool tile. Your guests will marvel at your awesome design choices and keen sense of attention to detail.

A clean and well-maintained pool is exactly what you need this summer. Always be prepared for spontaneous pool parties by keeping your pool clean and regularly monitoring your pool for signs of dirt and grime. Nothing will cramp your style this summer when your pool is in tip-top shape and you’ve got the most happenin’ pool parties.
