The pool is all fun and games until it comes down to maintenance. Stay on top of the ball with a maintenance plan and know the best ways to approach your pool’s upkeep. We’re here to keep you in the know about the best trends in pool maintenance. We know you work too hard to have to worry about pool maintenance, and we’re all about helping you simplify the process.

  • Keep an Eye on Water Levels

There’s a sweet spot for water level in every pool, and each pool has different preferences. It’s important to make sure your pool has a constant water level that’s in the sweet spot. Summer rains have a tendency to increase water levels, or there could be a leak that decreases the water level. When you’re looking for a change in water levels, you’ll be able to detect larger pool problems before they escalate.

  • The Filter is the Kidney of Your Pool

We all know kidneys are fragile organs but also very vital organs, this is true for pool filters as well. Both kidneys and pool filters are purifiers and need attention. Don’t let your pool filter go into failure by checking it constantly for replacement or cleaning. Simply cleaning out the filter of debris allows for clean filtration of your pool. All you need to do is check the filter’s status weekly or biweekly.

  • Tennis, Anyone?

We do love a good game of tennis, but did you know tennis balls can double as a pool tool? With so many people getting in and out of your pool, some oils can get left behind in the water. We’ve got the quick fix to combat those oils. Simply toss a tennis ball into the water and the neon yellow fibers will do all of the work. It’ll absorb all of the suntan lotion, hairspray and natural skin oils that’ve been left behind.

  • Cloudy Pool, Shocking!

Puns and pools are the move. We know it may be intimidating to shock your pool simply because of the name, but we promise it’s easy and helpful. A simple shock to your pool’s system will allow for clear waters. Cloudy water isn’t appealing to anyone, so be on the lookout for cloudy or murky waters so you can be proactive with the shocking process. We advise around twice per season for pool shocking needs.

  • Baking Soda Substitute

Instead of buying the pricey pool chemicals, you can actually substitute one of those chemicals for baking soda. Sodium bicarbonate is one of the ingredients in baking soda and serves the same purpose as the real chemical. They even have the same concentration, so conversion math isn’t needed here. You’ll use the same amount needed in the pool as you normally put in and it’ll be half (or even less than half) of the cost.

  • Break Out the Skimmer Net

The skimmer net is your new best friend. The summer winds are picking up and so is the debris in your yard. Keep the debris and bugs out of your pool this summer by skimming the pool at least once a week. We suggest doing so more frequently if you plan on using the pool multiple times a week. Skim the pool for bugs and leaves and you’ll be set to dive in.

  • Scrub-A-Dub-Dub

Your pool may not be a bath, but it definitely needs one once in awhile. Scrubbing the pool sides for algae build up will keep your pool looking its best and prevent green slime from forming. This should be done weekly or biweekly to prevent fast growing algae.
